we have almost purchased a 2004 starcraft Antigua 195ck.. And was wondering, I read where it had a recall on the back fold down bed ?? Also it has the screw type latches for the fold downs, do you suggest upgrading to something ? Or upgrading it somehow ? Thanks for the help. ]

The recall was to fix the part the poles goes into. All you do is add a heavier bracket.
The screw type latches on the top to secure it is all that can be used on them.
You can not upgrade to the new ones that they are using now because nothing to screw the bolts into except for fiberglass and it will not hold.

oh, alright thanks for the help !! one thing, have you heard a lot of bad thing about the screw type things ? do they work good ? i have seen one person that got 2 more screw locks to put about half way down to help seal it ?? thanks !!!

Ours has the screw latches. We haven't had any problems with leaks at all.

the only problem we ever have had with the screw latches is if you tighten them to much you will strip the threads on it.
You should not have a problem with a Starcraft leaking in the front or rear they use a double seals on the bed ends. If you do then you will see the customer has closed it up and did not get it sealed with the tent closed up in-between the seals.

I agree with Stacy. Buy New. While there is what seems so many good deals out there on used models, like a car, there is usually a reason why they are getting rid of it. of course there is always an exception and i'd guess you can find a "like new" one sometimes, but i'd just rather know that i'm the first to use it. Also, tell me if i'm wrong but maybe this is why Will keeps going through so many campers over the years. Perhaps if you bought new they you wouldnt have to go right into fixing all the little things that you would when you buy someone's used model. i know a lot of people on here talk about doing mods to their camper but for me, i'd rather have the enjoyment of just using it, then fixing it. just my .02 oh, PS Will... if you are interested in a nice pop-up , Tennessee RV still has mine that i traded in about 3 weeks ago. It's an 07 fleetwood avalon, dual axle, 16 foot box, full hookups, hard sided bathroom. I was just there yesterday and they still have it. You might be able to get a good deal on it since they salesperson i talked with yesterday said nothing has really been moving since it's getting close to the end of the season.

hi, yea nice to meet you too ! we will -- and we appreciate the deal. you got a great team there, everyone said hi, and was very nice.. will return.
willandgilscamper- 09-16-2007
hey, Erik. wow that sounds like a nice popup ! why did u you trade it ?? we saw one of those a tom johnson camping center.. they are nice.. we found the one we bought from Catheys, Friday night at midnight, and called + emailed to make sure they knew we wanted it. Rick called at 8:25.. we were impressed with the response time. It is the same as new, in our opinion. cant find a thing wrong with it.

we traded it for a 26 ft travel trailer after using it only 3 times. as nice as it was, it quickly became a pain in the you know what real fast. It was just more work setting everything up then what i had figured. Now , with my TT i just back in, unroll the awning and i'm done. SO much better. The only thing i can say to be an advantage of the pop-up is when you were sleeping in it, it was like real camping. You can hear the bugs and noises outside which can be kinda nice. In the TT, well, let's face it, it really is just a hotel on wheels. Your new one looks really nice from the pic on your signature. Wish you the best with it. by the way,,, did you ever get that TV to work again or do you plan on returning it ? i'm still looking for one if you know of anyone that has one. Thanks.
willandgilscamper- 09-17-2007
hi, well no the tv still is just black. we bought a 20'' lcd for the camper, but it wont fit in the spot for a tv in this one. so were having to use another one and just using the 20'' at home.. we have an extra 15'' lcd that works.. that im not sure if we are going to keep or not.. i will let you know .. as for the other one, we may try to return it. not sure.
