Well, we have been looking for awhile for some lights to put under the awning. We got some of the flower bulb style but they was too bright and I didn't want to leave them on at night. So in our never ending search for things to apply toward camping, we found some rope lights at Wally world. 40' strands of lights that use very little power and put out enough light to see by at night but not keep you awake.
For those with kids that want a night lite this is great. I bought two strands , one for the awning and the other for the screen house over the picnic table. Cost was $19.95 a strand and worked out great. They are led type and don't even create heat (cool to the touch) and can be rolled up and stored in small boxes in the camper.

We bought rope lights for the easy up and have just regular lights for the awning, I would love to get the nice colored balls but they are too expensive

I bought 3 rolls of the rope lighting at Target a couple of years ago, and all 3 rolls have sections of the rope that don't work anymore, so I was concerned about using them. Went into family dollar today and picked up a $3.00 roll of American Flag lights for the 4th. Its always nice to look festive.

We have been using the rope lights for a couple years now and really like them. I have rope lights around the ceiling of my enclosed porch and have a timer on them that they come on at dark and stay on about 3 hours then go off. It really helps and it is kinda subdued lighting. We every rarely turn the porch light on anymore. Like Ken said there is sections of the ones on the porch that quit working but still provides enough light.

We got lucky and got some a while back. We redid a vitage camper and went with a 50s/60s look. We used the spongebob paint at lows and we have a spongebob bathroom. We lucked up at biglots they had a sale on beach and tiki type stuff. we got a set of lights that were made to look like Hawaiian or beach shirts. Only 7 bucks. We went to New Mexico to the international Science far and ot there a lot of stores had covers for the small christmas lights that looked like red and green peppers. I could kick myself for not getting any. They were cheap too.

We bought a couple strands of rope lights on clearance for $2 each at Lowe's back several months ago, but have yet to use them......just plugged them up long enough to make sure they worked. Might just have to use them on our next trip ;)

We looked for lights that we liked, but could only agree on the globe lights. Since we are too cheap to pay $60+ for awning lights, I thought we were just going to have to do without. Until I had the idea last winter to use outdoor christmas lights. I bought the "old" kind with the big bulbs (C7 or C9???). We hung them with the awning light holders from Walmart and they look great.

Just a thought for some rather inexpensive lights.
