Hello fellow campers!!!!!!!! I am looking for the best (or closest to it) campground near or on Cherokee or Douglas lake. The internet is not very helpful in locating campgrounds (or maybe its just me that cant find them) and would like to hear from some of uall that have found a good campground near the water. I am pulling a 30ft 5th wheel and boat, and luggin my 2 children around with me. lol (dont take that the wrong way) they like to swim and fish too. Also, I am looking for a new wife that likes to camp, fish, and loves children...Interested? Please send me a picture of ur boat!!! lol Happy days r ahead.... etncc/i love camping.png

In my opinion the best campground I know on either lake is Greenelee -May Springs.
It located on Lakeshore Rd not far from Cherokee Dam. They have some nice lakefront sites a nice dock a lot of full timers but they are kinda seperated from the nightly camping spots. Great place to camp n boat.
Greenelee also owns Greenlee Fall Creek located in Russellville . They have some good lakefront sites sits right off main channel of Cherokee Lake.
The web site for both is http://www.greenleecampandmarine.com/index.asp
Another on Cherokee is Cherokee Park in Morristown. It sits on the lake , has a few lakefront sites. Hamblen Boat Dock is located there. The Park has fireworks and a concert on July 4th and assorted concerts and shows throughtout the season. We used to camp there often, our boat is docked there, however they have started letting campers stay long term and it is running down a little. Getting harder to get a good spot. It is still a OK campground.
Another nice campground is called Herron Point. It is also at Fall Creek in Russellville. The new owners bought the park and Fall Creek boat dock a year or so ago, They remodeled the campground and dock, it is very nice now, it is a gated area, well supervised. The only thing I do not like about it is you have to rent a daily slip at the dock for your boat, can not dock on shore at campsite. Their website has some good pic. it is http://fallcreekmarinaoncherokee.com/_wsn/page3.html
Panther Creek State Park in Morristown is a good place to camp with the kids. They have a nice pool, volleyball, softball, soccer fields lots of trails it has about 50 sites however some are way too small for your 5th wheel. The boat launch area is about a mile from the campground, if that doesn't bother you this is a good choice.
There is also a campground at Cherokee Dam however I know nothing about it.
Most of the campgrounds I have seen on Douglas are for full timers and are packed . I do not like them, others may love them.
A lot of people like Douglas Dam campground.
I hope this helps.

Good luck. These campgrounds will get you a lakefront gravel site with water and electric hookups. They are good to camp n boat or fish. They do not compare to a Corp of Engineer (COE) campground in no way.
