You may know this route.
Take I-40 to exit 27 in North Carolina. When you take exit 27 you will be on hwys 23-74-19. In a short distance Route 19 is going to exit off. DO NOT TAKE RT 19, STAY ON 23-74. RT 19 will take you through Maggie Valley, this is the terrible route.
Stay on Hwy 23-74 for a few miles and they will split. Hwy 23 will go south to Atlanta, hwy 74 will continue west and Hwy 441 will merge in with 74. You will be travelling Hwy 74-441. In a few miles 74 will continue west and 441 will go north to Cherokee. This will get you to Cherokee on a good 4 lane hwy the entire trip. It is a longer trip, but the safest route to take pulling a TT.
Fast recap: I40 to exit 27 in NC take hwy 74 to just south of Cherokee and take hwy 441 into Cherokee.
