We are trying to plan a camping trip to Maine this summer.
Have any of you done a trip like this?
We are trying to find some good places to camp on the way and back. We want to hit Amish country and then go up through Vermont, then to Maine.
We want to take about 1 1/2 weeks to go up and back.
Would love any info you could give.

Hi there. I can you tons of info on the white mountain area of New Hampshire. I just love that area and have been there many times. Never camping, but would like to do that too one day. I visited just a small area of vermont, but I have also been to Maine. Specifically,Bar Harbor. Which is a beautiful little town and it has Acadia National Park right on the Island. Probably would be an awesome place to camp.

Do you think 1 1/2 weeks is enough to do that trip?? Honestly, i had thought about doing something like it because i do love the New Hampshire area so much, but i was thinking at least 2 weeks and 3 would definitly be preferable. Let me know how it works out for you. You really got me thinking about planning a trip up there again.

Bennington,Vermont is beautiful. It is close to Williamstown, Massachusettes. There is a lot to do in Bennington. I am sure there are lots of places to camp. We didn't, but the Green Mountains are there and it is just loaded with Revolutionary War history. Plus, Norman Rockwell Museum, Grandma Moses Museum, Old First Church (Robert Frost and several other famous people are buried there) and a huge monument that you can go up in to see several states. I would love to go on a camping trip to Maine, but think it would take at least 2 if not 3 weeks. We flew up and rented a car for 4 days. We went to NY, Mass, Ct and VT. I want to go back next fall.

We were hoping to go to Bar Habor and Hike in Acadia National Forest.
I realize 1 1/2 weeks is not quite enough time. We are thinking about extending the trip to 2 weeks.
The trip is not set in stone but I really want to do it. I really would like to talk to someone who had done it.

I've been to Bar Harbor. But wasnt into camping at the time. We had stayed at a B&B on the island. We were only there for a couple of days but it's a really nice little town and we did a whale watching cruise. Be aware though, that it is a really seasonal place and pretty much at the end of summer ,everyone in the town leaves and there isnt really much there.
