We used to have a 13' UHaul. My in-laws have a 13' Scamp. I'm sure you've already discovered the pros and cons of them; they're lightweight, easy to tow, etc., but they are very small. There is a good website of lightweight fiberglass trailer owners at fiberglassrv.com. You'll learn more than you ever wanted to know on that site. Also, there is a company in Johnson City that rents 13' Scamps. Their website is kiddeekamperrentals.com. Renting one for a weekend would be a great way to determine if they're right for you.

One thing I can tell you for sure, if you're looking for a used fiberglass trailer, you had better be ready to buy it on the spot. The demand for those trailers is incredible. I sold mine in 5 days after posting it for sale on the internet.

I agree on the size issue. On my scotty it is small at 13 feet and about the same size as the scamp. But I am fine with that. Its a lot easier to pull and will save a lot of gas over my larger tt that I pull with a 352 v8. One thing I am going to do is to build a awning room for it. A awning room is a awning with sides on it. Our daughter wanted a tent to camp with so we got her one. We are going to set up the camper so the tent can attach to the awning room. So with that combined area we will actually have the same or more square footage over our other 20 ft trailer. Thats a great suggestion on renting one. I pull my bigger one to Rock Island SP which is about 20-30 miles round trip last year. IT cost roughly 20 bucks in gas I think. I pulled the scotty about 300 mile round trip with a 4 banger last year to pick it up. I only used about 30 bucks of gas. I think as gas goes up the popularity of the small ones will go up as fast.

If you are not set on that brand there are a couple of other small campers out there. The T@b trailers and the new Scottys. You can see the new Scottys at www.scottytrailers.com . I am familiar with these and the guy who started the new run of these offered me one and it may have been the first one. He bought a original Scotty and took it apart. He made patterns and resold the one he used as a pattern. He has a group of Amish to build them. Rick may sell them now I am not sure. The T@B are at www.tab-rv.com .They have a newer T@DA that looks really nice. I have seen the smaller T@B and been in it. Both of those start out at least 10 grand new. But you can probably find like-new used ones out there where someone wants larger. But I have a larger Aristocrat but I like the smalller Scotty just as well. Its easier to move, setup and haul. And most of the time we are outside anyway.
