We just went out for the first time this year to Edgar Evins SP. For those of you that are interested in going towards Nashville the park is about 30 minutes past Cookeville. 20 minutes past Cookeville then about 10 minutes off I40 to the park. Its a great park and clean. It has new blacktop in the campground. The restrooms I saw were spotless and the rangers patrol regularly. If you are into boating it is a great park. The worst thing about the park is that it is really steep in some hills so make sure your tow vehicles can tow your camper or boat uphill good. Leaving out is not as hard but you need good brakes also. Well worth camping out if you are in the area. I have pictures at http://good-times.webshots.com/album/563245824CGFpKn

Great looking pics Willy. Glad you got to take the trip. How did the truck and camper do? Hope all went well. I guess the brakes worked ok? I have heard about this park but never been there and was wondering what it was like. What is the name of the lake that is there?

The lake is called Center Hill Lake. It is a big fishing and boating place for this area. The truck and camper did fine but with a 2 liter 4 cylinder going up those hills with a fully loaded camper was a little too much. The hills are really steep and my family packed enough to invade a 3rd world country. But it made it fine. I was able to get to it though. It has a lot of hills and such but its a really nice park. To me someone who was into boating and fishing it would be a great park. Where we were at you can cap out and then walk a little way to your boat on the shore. Some were doing that. Really this truck and camper would do great going to a prk that didn't have hills. It pulled but I had to floorboard it up some of the hills. We are going to get my wife a blazer or similar with a v6. She wants something easier than a caviler to get in with her knees. So we will use her new one to pull it. I would think about selling the truck but it gets 30mpg now and I just can't let it go. I use a truck too much to sell it. And my other truck uses WAY too much gas. I think I will keep the older truck up and give it to my daughter after she gets settled. She has always wanted to turn it into biodeisel or something like that.

I am so glad you and your family enjoyed Edgar Evins. It is one of my favorite places to go. We were going this weekend, but it is going to rain. I just like to take a book and enjoy the peace and quiet. They have a historical hayride in the fall. We went year before last and it was a lot of fun and educational. I would like to go this year and camp that weekend. They also have a wildflower hike and a fall foilage cruise, also.
