Well, it started out simple enough. We just bought a Jayco camper last week and all was well. It's used so I figure it ain't so bad. Got it home and set it up, you know, the normal Jee Whiz!! OK, the new is wearing off and its time to get to work. Towed it to the ins. place and got full coverage.. good. Got it registered and a tag...good. Brought it back home and set it up..good. Sprayed the inside with Scotchguard and waterproofed the outside... good.. Then it rained. I mean it turned loose a torential down pour for over 4 hrs. It rained so hard... well it rained bad. Now the work really starts.
Inside of camper was sopping wet down thru the center where the ceiling is put together. Water was running out of the wire race's and out the a/c cover and switchs. BADDDDDD.... Good part was the canvas wasn't leaking. laugh.gif
So I pulled the cover from the a/c unit and water runs in from the top. Found that the water had leaked into the skin and thats how it got to the divider. So I found my leak. WHEW!!!
Made a trip all the way to Chattanooga to Shipp' RV and Campers World, ( Whole nuther story) got a gasket and came home and installed it. Pulled the a/c and cut away the old gasket and installed new one. Got it all back together and finally got to set it back up. A/C runs fine and it don't leak. WOOHOO!!! Got it all dried out and everything back in it. Installed a few extras that I had picked up. Now it is ready to load and go next weekend. Gonna leave it up tho and let it rain on it to see how it does.

ever think of ordering the bunk end covers from popupgizmos.com. we bought them and wouldn't camp without them.

have you taken an pica of what you have done so far??

Looked at the bunk covers and think I would like them. Just don't have enough funds right now. sad.gif I was gonna take some pics tommorow if the sun is out here. Maybe I can get some of it done. I already got the a/c unit back together and won't be taking it apart anytime soon. I hope>>> Wish I had thought and got pics of it tho. It would have made a useful reference.

As far as your bunk end covers go. I went to Lowes and bought a roll of 4'X 25' reflective insulation and a roll of the silver tape and some spring clips. Cost about $60. We have a Jayco with a king bed on one end, full bed on the other end, I had about a 1 foot strip of reflective left over.
I measured the top of bunkends, cut to size, made a little larger than actual size, took 2 pieces on each end, taped both sides. I set up camper, lay the reflective cover on bunkends, clip and tie them on, works greats, makes camper much cooler and protects canvas at same time. A very easy mod to do that makes a hugh difference.
