What a wonderful campground! This is not far from the Savannah South, KOA. However, it is much much better!
We were set to stay 2 nights there on the way back. Saturday 6/2 and Sunday 6/3. However, it POURED and the wind gusted all of the way from Disney to Fort McAllister due to the tropical storm. Even with the sway bars, our camper's rear end was moving back and forth and you couldnt see more than a few feet in front of you the entire time. I think we are going to invest in a Hensley Arrow or something else. I do not ever want to experience the rear-end of the trailer swaying like that again. Hopefully we will never experience driving thru a tropical storm again : )
Upon arrival at Fort McAllister, Craig ran in the office. He came back and said to pick any available site. Due to the pouring rain and wind, we picked the first open spot we came to. It was the largest camping site I have ever seen! I believe that all of the campsites are pull thru's and our site was Huge! We left the trailer hitched and settled down for a rainy night. In the morning, it was just drizzling so Katie and I walked the campground. It is just a really neat place! I cannot wait to go back! I have heard that the "no see-ums" are really bad in the area. However, due to the rain, we did not have any issues.
