I found a really nice yellow lab/chow mix on friday night and i cant locate the owner. I have notified the local shelters, police, and no luck. Obviously no one is looking for her. She is a yellow lab, about 60 pounds with chow. She appears to be all lab except for the purple tongue. I took her to my vet on saturday to see if she was microchipped, but no luck. My vet agreed to keep her for the weekend to give me some time to try to find the owners. Her time is about to run out though and she's gonna be sent to a shelter. I notified the east tennessee retriever rescue and that is just a complete joke. They wont take her in cause she is a stray, but if i'd have lied and said she was my dog, then they would have found her a foster home till someone wanted to adopt her. Anyway, I'm asking on here if anyone would be interested in fostering or taking her permanetly. I dont know much about her, but after spending the day with her, she is really lovable, not mean, but she did growl at my other dog but i think it was a jealously issue cause i went to pet the other dog while i was petting the lab. I think you'd need a fenced yard and im pretty sure she came from living inside, just because she is in such good condition. If ANYONE can help, please email me ASAP. Im expecting a call today or tomorrow from my vet asking what the status is of finding her owners and it's not looking good. Also, i live in Corryton,(north knoxville) if you are interested, i'd be more then happy to bring her to you on thursday or friday which are my days off. I hope somebody can help.

I only have a second, or I would look this up for you.
You could go to petfinder.com and look for rescue groups in your area. Call/email them and see if they are full. Maybe there is a nice rescue group in your area tht would be willing to take her in?
Good Luck.

Hey starlite, Thanks for that tip. Since the Retriever Rescue group of east tenn. was absolutly no help I didnt know where else to turn but I found an all breed rescue on the site you gave and met the nicest lady that is willing to help me out. However, I think i might be the new owner anyway. I went to petsmart the other day and bought her a new cage and all kinds of toys and this morning I had her spayed and will be picking her up today at 5 pm. I kinda had to laugh cause i have almost $400 in a dog that isnt even mine!!!! isnt that funny? Anyway, i'm gonna do my best to give her a home but my work schedule isnt really dog friendly so it might be tough, but i'm willing to try if the dog is. :) And at least now i know that if it doesnt work out this lady from the rescue will help me find her a permanent home with the love that she deserves. Oh, and the dogs new name will be Grace. Cause honestly, i think it was by grace that she found me and not wandered onto the road and gotten killed. Maybe i'll bring her to a campout to meet everyone.

Grace is a very lucky dog! I hope you have a great life together. I would hope if one of my babies ever got away from me, someone like you would find them. I am going to have mine microchipped soon.

Thanks Snow. She is such a great dog. if i could have ordered one, she is exactly what i would have ordered. She has the most calm disposition you could ever find. Lovable, gentle. She still growls a bit at my other dog around food but she is getting better. I had her spayed last week and I had to take her back today cause her cut was getting infected cause she wouldnt stop licking it. So now she gets to wear one of those funnel looking collars. Talk about funny. I dont think she thinks so, but walking into walls is just funny, i dont care who you are!!!
as far as the microchipping goes, i havent had it done yet, but she doesnt go outside without a collar with her name and address on it. A simple $5.00 tag and whoever owned her would have been able to gget her back. However, i really dont think anyone was looking to be honest cause i notified all the local animal shelters, all the vets around me and even the local police. If someone had been looking, Believe me, i wasnt hard to find.
One think that just irritates me to no end is people who get animals and then when they get sick of them just get rid of them. How can anyone do that? I've only had her for a week and there is no way i could ever just kick her out on the street to fend for herself. Would you do that to a family member you were sick of?? of course not. even though some may actually deserve it but thats a whole other story!!! I've never owned a dog that i just got tired of and brought it to an animal shelter or worse. You bought it, you take care of it for the rest of it's life.
I'm trying to get her used to riding in the truck but she's not too up for that so i'm not sure if camping is in her future but we're trying.
Thanks, Erik

I'll bet she will be ready to go camping in no time. I let my dogs run in the field behind our house. When I get ready to go in all I have to do is open the car door. They come running and jump right in. They love to go for rides and I love to take them!
I am with you. I don't know how people give up animals so easily. Our oldest dog had been in the house with the couple who gave him to us for a whole winter. Spring came and they tied him to a swing set in the back yard. He was stuck there all summer in a terrible heat wave. When I went to get him he was the most pitiful sight you have ever seen! He sure hasn't lived that life since and won't.
I am confident that you and Grace will have everything worked out and have that routine down pat by the first camping trip! Hope to see you out there camping so the dogs can visit, too. Mine love to playmates.
