Well, we had out first trip there this year. The campground is nice and the roads are paved and it has a playground for the kids and seems to be all around a nice place. Bath houses were cleaned daily and stocked and the folks were really nice. Area two is nice. It had cable tv hook ups and water and electric and sewer.
Now for the rough part. We stayed in D-9 and it was all backwards. It was made for a pull in for a motorhome style and was completely backwards for a pop up. We had arrived late so there was no one to see about changing areas. When I went to check in Monday morning the host informed me that the camp area was backwards and that I could move if I wanted to. She gave me a couple of other sites and we went to look at them but they were not what we were looking for either.
It came a hail storm Monday and even tho I had the awning angled so the water would run off the suddeness of the storm and the weight of the hail broke our awning down. The hail was the size of golf balls! The main bar at the front of the awning was bent into a U shape and then the roof started leaking! The ground was white and it looked more like February than June! The leaves was beat off the trees and the limbs were everywhere. The temp dropped over 30 degrees in a matter of minutes.
After the storm it was time to acess the damages. I figured that the roof skin must have a hole beat in it or something but come to find out, the rain and ice had filled the back side of the air conditioner housing. This prevented it from draining properly and the excess water came in thru the air conditioner into the roof area of the camper. Oh well, at least I didn't have a hole up there. I pulled the rods out of the awning and made some minor repairs to the rods and got them back in and the awning set back up. Whew! What a day!
The rest of the week went ok and even tho it rained a couple more times no more leaks. Thank God for that!. All in all it was a fairly good trip and we had fun. The lake was about 7 to 8 ft. low and the swimming area was almost dry. We went to the boat ramp and let the kids play there. Then the next day there was a huge copper head swimming around the ramp so needless to say no more swimming and playing in there! Hope every one had a great week and an even better weekend!
