Cheap gas? Thats like saying a honest politician. Sorry I couldn't resist. Since I drive 80 miles round trip to work I really don't like gas prices,GRRRR.
Kelsmale- 04-16-2008

Exactly thats my point. I haven't seen cheap gas in ages. I remember seeing gas at 1.00 close to my parents home and thinking it was high . I could have went to town and got it for 90 cents but since I just stayed at the park and only used about 10 gallons I just paid it. Makes me feel old. I saw gas go from about 90 cents in 1983 to about 1.50 in 2003. Then go from 1.50 in 2003 to 3.25 in 2008. Theres something wrong with that picture. Its no wonder this county is going down the drain. We got to get gas under control. I think I will invent a vehicle that runs on hot air. I will go to some of these political rallys and get enough to last me until the next election in 4 years.

Willy, that is a great idea. We can just take our RVs from one politicial rally to another and go on trips all across the country powered on hot air. I think you have really hit on a great idea there. If the hot air does not work, I saw on TV the other day this company is building a refinery that will convert algea to bio fuel. They said they could use an area 1/10th the size of the state of New Mexico to produce the algea and power all the vehicles in the country. Maybe this will work if the hot air fails. If that fails, maybe we can come up with another purpose for the hot air.

lol I rember when gas was 30 cents I must of been 7

I really feel old. When Istarted driving, gas was just 37 cents per gallon. I also remember sitting in 3 plus hour lines to buy gas in 1974. It's amazing that when the population refused to pay 8 cents per gallon, all of a sudden there was a gas shortage. Now that we are willing, however begrudgingly, to pay 3.50 per gl. there is plenty of supply.
I am a pro business conservative, but I believe it tis time to take a new look at oil. Considering that it is such a large, and vital part of our economic stability, maybe we should consider putting it under a form of public utilities commission, like electricity, water, and naturall gas. Then the pols. couldn't say "oh we have no control over that"

Totally electric cars... may be a few years away, but eventually gas prices will come down when everyone owns these electric cars... (maybe 50 years from now... hahaha) I'll never see the day!
Great technologies are being created at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory every day... www.ornl.gov

Maybe, but then electricity will cost $30 per kilowatt hour. As a side note, about a month ago, I read a research report that suggested that the atmospheric pollution created by the power generating plants to create the electricity to recharge one electric car is worse than the pollution form on hudred conventioally powered automobiles. If it aint one thing, it's another.

Well, i was reading an article that said by 2016 gas will be around 5.80 a gallon. If the average today is 3.30 then that is an increase of 75% over the next 8 years. this wouldnt be that big of a deal if your paycheck increased the same amount over the next 8 years but even if your lucky enough to get a so-called "cost of living increase" which may be 4% a year your still 43% negative. I personally think there are some VERY VERY hard and sad times coming REAL soon.

That means the price of gas will actually be slowing down as far as rising. It has went up 100% for me in the last 4 years. The sad part is all of this is caused by greed. The actual use is going down at the same time there has been 2 new large oil fields discovered. I think in the next 50 years oil will go the way like wood did as a source of fuel. I just wonder what we will switch to?

I wonder if everyone across the country just stayed home over one weekend and noone used any gas what would happen. I know that is not going to happen, but it is a thought. Would it help the economy or hurt it? I think, but am not sure, that if we did stayed home for a few days the price of gas would go down. What do you think?
Dirtfisher- 04-19-2008
I think we should have a national "snow day". All non-essential workers and school children stay home and no one go anywhere. No driving for a full 24 hours. If everyone would do that look at the gas it would save. This should include government workers as well as private business workers, school teachers and store workers, truck drivers and all. Just essential and emergency personel allowed on the highways. Sounds good but I know it will never happen....

Good luck on getting everyone to stay home for one day.
