This is a wonderful oceanside state park campground and if it wasn't for the smell of the salt water one might think they were at the mountain. there was a small playground area for the kids. most sites are shaded. the main rule is trash goes out to the dump before you go to bed or you will have guest. i will include some links.

Kelsmale, considering a few nights at Hunting Island in late Sept or early Oct. How busy is this park? Would you think I should have reservations? Thanks for your help!

We've never been there ourselves, but I've heard really good things about it!

My husband and I have reservations at site #74 which I am told is oceanfront the first week in May. I am looking forward to it and have read many great reviews of this campground on the internet. It was described as a "tropical paradise". I am counting the day!!! etncc/hols.gif

site 74 is not bad your actually one row back from the ocean u have a boardwalk right to the beach not really a bad site it will be shaded the map online doesn't do the park justice. we prefer sites 150 -200 and 110-150 are nice too there are a couple of good sea food markets(gay fish Market is a good reasonable one) on lady island about 15 minutes back toward town if you have ne questions just ask

Thanks for the information. Glad to hear that we will be close to the ocean. I love the ocean and find it very etncc/hols.gif. Hope to be able to "chill out". I am so looking forward to it. It is our first trip this year.

if you or your husband enjoy fishing there is no charge and a license is not required on the island if you are staying there. Shark is good eating one bone and its the spine, cut like tuna steaks and marinate in whole milk overnite and be carful with your awning tiki torches are very popular

oh and the wife said to tell you about the turtles probably wont allow fires at nite and no outside lights because they are coming on the beach to lay eggs
