I never have worked on one of those but I have worked on and rebuilt 12 volt motors restoring my truck. I am wondering if you only have one wire out because that is the hot wire? I bet it uses the frame of the jack as the ground. Thats the way a lot of 12 volt motor are made. If it has a built in switch aready wired I bet that is the way it is made.

Do a google search and see if anybody has any pics of installing one on the webshots or flickr page. I can not seem to picture what your describing in my head.

I don't know what model of jack you have but on mine I only have 1 wire going to the hot side of the battery. The jack grounds itself to the frame.Just make sure that there is no paint on your tongue where the jack bolts onto, so it will get a good ground.

Hey Will. The fuse is just packaged like that. When you mount the jack, just clean off the paint so it will ground good. After bolting it on you can repaint it to keep it from rusting.
Take the fuse holder and cut the wire in two. Skin it and attach it (positive post) as close to the battery as possible and then from the other end of it attach the wire from the jack. Install what ever amperage fuse that it calls for. (Just unscew the cap from the fuse holder and install the fuse.)
