Could anyone tell me why jayco put a split matress in ther hybirds, and is there a trick to sleeping on them? Seems like I always wake up on the wood between the two.A simple sheet will not hold them together. Any help will be grateful.

Sounds very weird
how about some velcro, the heavy duty stuff then a foam mattress on the top of it. Your sheets should fit then and everything will be held together

Hey I know this will not help but just to let you know I feel for you we had a 1998 jayco light hawk and every thing inside was great except for the table that made into a bed we just stuck pillows in the crack for the time being . Now we have an older 1982 pop up and the king size plywood bed sleeps great

I didn't realize there were any Jayco's that had split mattresses. Ours (a Bantam by R-Vision) has split mattresses that are sewn together, so they can be folded up but will stay together when folded down. I suppose you could do the same with yours?
