We are going to try a trip this year to Fla. and I am wondering is there anything that ya'll do to prepare for a long trip? What are some of the things I should be aware of when making a trip this far.? Hopefully we will have a safe trip and have a great time but I guess i am just a little worried about the drive. Any helpful hints would be appreciated. thanks.

fisher, Where in FL are you going? I drive a lot. Driving to FL for me is kind of like others driving to the grocery store. I will be driving to FL twice in the next two weeks. Aside form the obvious, (make sure the vehicle is serviced, belts, oil, lube, tires etc.), try to plan your route very well. Use the internet, or a software program like MS Streets and TRips to do the routing. There are some great resources available. I use the S&T. With that I can enter the mpg I expect to get, my start time, and destination, my road preferences and the approximate speed I will drive. The program will then show me on the map it produces where I should start looking to stop for fuel, and it will list things like rest., hotels, campgrounds, airports, convention cnentrs, an many other places, if I ask it to. One important piece of information I can give you is buy gas before you get to FL. The gas prices in FL are high. I live in Marion, VA, and I take I77 to I 26 to I 95 when I am going to the peninsula part of FL, and I make sure to buy my gas in S.C., or GA. Hope this helps. I will be happy to give you any info Ican. Have a great trip Paul

We are planning to go to Disney World. I am thinking about driving to Perry Ga for the first night and then drive the next day to get there. I could probably drive all the way but want to take time to enjoy it also. The wife and daughter get tired of sitting after awhile. I will be on 75 most of the way so it shouldn't be too bad. I bought the book "The Next Exit" and have found it to be a really helpful tool to use while traveling. It has the exits listed and everything within a 2 mile range of the exit. Food, fuel hotels, camp arreas, parks etc. It lists the gas stations and restraunts in red that can accomodate campers and trailers. Thanks for the info. and any other info is much appreciated.
