I have another vacation idea im considering that I need some suggestions for. We're thinking of a trip to Nashville for 5 nights in July and then stopping off at Fall Creek Falls on the way back for 4 nights. does anyone have suggestions on campgrounds in Nashville? I looked up Jellystone and it seems pretty nice and centrally located and the rate was like $250 for the stay, but it's just my wife and I on this trip so we really dont need the kid activities that Jellystone offers.
So, if anyone has some good ideas, I'm all ears!!!
Also, anything you can tell me about Fall Creek would be great. I've heard from a lot of people how nice it is, so we've been wanting to check it out.

Here is a few links to info on Nashville campgrounds. There is a big list at

http://www.nashvillelife.com/entertainment/page11.html

The Nashville speedway campground is not in Nashville. Its about 20-30 minutes outside of Nashville In Lebanon. Any that say Goodletsville are about 15 minutes out and not too far out. If you are in that area you can go to TBNs Trinity music studios. I don't know what they have in the summer but its a interesting place. You can see Conway Twittys house there. That Area is where a lot of Country Music stars lived. I had a relative that lived over there. I have been buy a lot of stars houses like Jonny Cashs, Roy Orbisons and others.

If you want in the area by Opryland you have a few besides Jellystone. There is

And

Plus in that area you see Opryland Hotel. If you go to that area I encourage you to go the hotel. You can spend the day there and still not see it all. They have the WSM radio studios and you can watch the anouncers there. Then the atrium there is like being in a tropical paradise. The meals are good but higher than say Cracker Barrel. Plus you have to pay for parking. I think parking may be around 10 bucks now. But to get out of the paying of the parking go to Opryland mall and park on the side next to the Hotel. You can walk over to the hotel. But be forwarned the hotel is huge but worth the walk if you are up to it. At Opryland mall you can see Gibson guitars being made there in the mall. Theres Bass pro shops and a 50s diner there in the mall. And like the hotel its huge also.

You are on the east side of Nashville there and about 10 minutes from the downtown area.

Also in that area is Cullum Maxey RVs and Camping world. Depending on what you want to do in Nashville that is probably a nice area. But since it is Nashville it will be pricey.
There are a lot of things in Nashville to see and some you wouldn't expect to see.
There is the Lane motor museum at http://lanemotormuseum.org/

Then the Parthenon is a nice park but don't go at night. It has one area that is a pickup place for stuff I don't want to post. Then theres downtown to see all the music history.

There was a place that was really nice there called the 101st airborne out by the Airport. I am not sure it is still open but it was great. You may want ot ask around if it still is. IT was right at the edge of the airport and you could watch the airplanes land as you eat. IT was set up like a WW2 place. Yuo would turn down the road and see all kinds of WW2 vehicles. Then to go in it looked like a building that would have been used then. There was sandbags at the entrence and down the halls. It was really nice.
Then another place is Noshville deli . I love this place. It is set up like a New York deli, it looks strait out of the 50s. It was a 50s type diner that had never been updated I think. Its at

Outside of Nashville if you like Antiques you can shop in Lebanon. They have a lot of antique shops. One has even been on National TV for a head they have of some animal thats suppose to be bigfoot or something.

As far as Fall Creek Falls goes thats a nice place but you may want to check on Reservations there.

If you do go there go from the 111 exit. 111 is a really nice road. Do not go to the back side that goes to 127 toward Pikeville. . I went through the park to get the scotty. I went down that road with a sunfire and thought theres no way I bringing the scotty back this way. Fall Creek has all kinds on nice stuff there like paddle boats and swinging bridges. We went one time and got out to look. Below where we was we saw some Elephants and thought we had lost it. They were making the Jungle Book movie then. In the movie you see the guy heading back to the jungle and going over a swinging bridge. Its in the park. I think they still had the vines on it for the movie the day we went over it. If you can't get get reservations there check into Rock Island SP and Standing Stone I think its called at Livingston. Then there is one at the Baxter exit just before Cookeville. Its called Twin Lakes catfish farm. Its at

http://www.twinlakescatfish.com/

The RV parking area is basically gravel and very few trees, nothing fancy yet. But it has one of the best fish places I have ever eaten at. They have a all you can eat Buffet I highly recomend. I think it is mainly at nights when they have the Buffet. But even if you don't camp there its well worth the stopping for the meal. Its about 10 minutes from I40 at the Baxter exit. There are a few others out this way but I am not familar with them all yet.

If you can get by with water and electric hookups I would recommend Seven Points. It's a COE campground on J. Percy Priest lake just east of Nashville. A short drive to all the sites in Nashville.
It is one of our favorite campgrounds. Rate should be $20-25 per night. I don't know of any campground in Nashville that has cable, but you do not need it. TV reception is very good.

You can reserve on Reserve America. If you choose Seven Points you will need to reserve asap, it fills up fast.

All the odd number sites between site 13-43 are waterfront sites, very nice.
We personally like sites 28 and 30. They are across the road from the lake but are good big sites with a good view.

We went May and August last year. You can click on my pic link below my sig and see a few pics of Seven Points. May pics site 28 Aug pics site 30.

We have stayed at Jellystone and the KOA, they along with Two Rivers are just down the street from Opryland , standard commerical campgrounds.

Nashville is a great place to go.

I can't help with Fall Creek Falls. We are going to try to go there in March/April. You will probably need to make a reservation there for a trip in July.

Another great campground in middle TN is Defeated Creek. Info on it is also on Reserve America. You may want to try to work a couple of nights in there.. It is also a very popular campground.

I would also recommend Seven Points near Nashville. Very nice cg. Here are some pics of Seven Points. We also love to go to Fall Creek. They just finished some renovations in the cg. I would also suggest reservations in July unless you plan on arriving mid week. My favorite spots are in the E section-site 218 is really nice. The sites in E are not reservable. I have some pics of Fall Creek in my photos. The pics are before renovation. Lots to see and do at Fall Creek.

If you go to Nashville and like history, go to the home of President Andrew Jackson, The Hermitage. Also, Fort Nashboro is great. If you like country music there is the County Music Hall of Fame. One of my favorite places is the Frist Museum. It is in the old post office. Willy is right about Noshville Deli. It is fantastic!

I don't know of any campgrounds in Nashville, but I do love Fall Creek Falls. We went last fall and had a great time. Another great place is Edgar Evins State Park. It is not far from I-40 close to Cookeville. I have heard great things about Defeated Creek, but haven't been there.

If you are in Middle Tennessee on the weekend closest to the 4th of July and like bluegrass, you should attend the Smithville Fiddler's Jamboree and Crafts Festival. It is awesome. I never miss the Jamboree and used to jury the crafts a few years back. There is good music, good food and a lot of crafts to look at. It is a huge festival.

I hope you enjoy Middle Tennessee. There is a lot to do and see.

I forgot to mention one of the best attractions in Nashville. The Grand Ole Opry. We have been twice. It is fantastic! I am not a country music fan, but love the atmosphere of the Opry. I have only been to the Ryman Auditorium and have never been to the new Opry house. They hold the Opry in the Ryman on special occasions i.e. Christmas, Veteran's Day. Our daughter bought us tickets for Christmas year before last. If you want to see country music stars, you will see them there. They have stars that just pop in and come on stage. We saw Vince Gill once and Brad Paisley once. Hope you enjoy!

I made my reservations today for fall creek falls in July and they gave me site #92. Has anyone been here that can tell me if that site is any good? if not , what would you recommend. Maybe i could call back and get something different if it's available.
Thanks.
