Probably going to be a new fifth wheel owner. Wanted to get peoples opinion oh the hitches if anyone knew. We have to have a slider hitch I have found out, since we have a short bed. Were going to look at a Husky slider tomorrow, and don't really know what to look at. We also don't know how a fifth wheel hooks up or anything.

I to had to have a slider when I used my shortbed truck, I bought a Reese 16k pound slider hitch. I thought alot about what size of hitch to get and decided that there was a slight chance that one day I would buy a heavier camper and that was how I decided on the 16k hitch. As far as brand it is a matter of which one you want. I bought mine online, got free shipping and installed my self for half the price that most places around our area will sell you one for. If you would like I can get you a model # or web site if you would like. The one thing to do is shop around before you buy.

There are several different manufactur of fifth wheel hitches. Just do your homework and then pick what works best for you.

A fifth wheel hooks up very easy. If you have ever seen a tractor trailor hook up that is exactly how it will be hooking up to your truck. You stiill will hook up your power cord and break-away cable the same as before.

thanks were getting a Husky 16K slider fifth wheel hitch installed Friday Morning. total about $875 installed, including a bracket kit, i have to buy just because of our truck.

the funny thing is we were at about $875 before the fifth wheel hitch got installed, then after he installed it, and everything was done it ended up being about $1100 !! ??

we hooked it up at the dealership, and unhooked it tonight.. it was very easy. seams a lot easier than a TT. we really like the power jacks, makes it even easier. guess you have to have that though. and the fact that it has a lockable little storage door up where the hitch is on it, to put the brake hookup cable in.

we slid the hitch back for the first time, it was neat too. all we did was unlock the hitch, hold the manual switch on our brake box in, and pulled up. we saw that if we don't slide it back, it will hit the back of our truck !

wont be going back to a travel trailer. too many features on the fifth wheel we like. tons of storage, being able to have a ceiling fan, upstairs, and the easiness of hooking, and unhooking.
it also pulled a lot better than a tt, no swaying, or being sucked in beside a tractor and trailer.

really nice looking trailer Will. wish you good luck with it. I wish i'd have bought a f-250 or 2500 instead of my 1500 when i bought a new truck cause i'd go to a 5th wheel also. I just like the way they look also, but since i just got the truck i guess i'm gonna stick with the TT for a while.

were going to at least go once in it, if we like it keep it, and if not get another fifth wheel.

Nice looking 5'er you got there. Seem that we are the two newest 5'er owners. I just got mine a few weeks earlier, a Cruiser by Crossroads, it's 32 feet long.. It has 3 slideouts and I also love the the way it tows and how easy it is to hookup.

i do want to be a RV dealer in future. i guess we are like one now, except no store !

coolbreeze-- wow ! 3 slides !! bet it is like a house !! ours is only one 14' and it makes a world of difference.

Yes it has three slides, one of the slides moves the kitchen and entertainment center out. on the other side the couch and dinette table slide out..The third slide is in the master bedroom.

When it's completely opened up it is huge on the inside. Just wish I had gotten it earlier, now I just look out my window and can't wait for camping to start again
