Well, Well, Well....................................Northern Georgia (Fannin County).......

What a amazing twist to raising the gas prices. Late this a.m. co-workers came into the office and stated to get gas now, that all the stations were running out of gas that was in my (Blue Ridge) town. Yeh right was my thought. etncc/tantrum.gif

Well, at 2 p.m. last call. All stations were closed as I drove around and found one that was open selling only medium grade. Hey, that was fine, my car was on E. They didn't know how long they would have gas either. They guy too cars ahead of me was filling up even the 5 gallon gas bucket red things. 4 p.m......Fannin County has NO GAS. etncc/tantrum.gif

A lady that works at cheveron came in our office. She said the craziness of no gas will last the next month. Oh who is making the money here. We are such suckers. This country isn't for the people, it is for the rich to get rich off the poor because there isn't a middle class anymore. etncc/tantrum.gif

Now the twist, I was fortunate to pay 3.89 a gallon; however, they were gauging other people to 4.09 a gallon on the outskirt stations, when the stations that were selling gas before ran out were selling at 3.86 a gallon for regular. WHO IS FOOLING WHO? etncc/tantrum.gif etncc/dontknow.gif

So, who else has run out of gas, I am just curious. I called Flagler Beach, Florida, they still had gas. etncc/tantrum.gif

Friday I was helping out the High School band. One of the people got a call from someone who said they heard from a trucker that the gas would be all gone from the Nashville area by that afternoon. Rumors. What happened everyone panicked and went out to get gas. That made a rush and a lot of stations ran out. I have been fairly lucky here and can find it. I have not paid four bucks yest but if people keep going nuts and running it out I probably will soon. We went camping over the weekend and I noticed almost all the campers were from 50 miles or less and probably 95% were within 20 miles. We pulled the scotty and we probably made 30 miles round trip so I don't think I used more than a gallon and a half.

I drive by 6 stations on the way to work each day. For the last two days there has been grocery bags over the pump handles at three of the stations. Today I bought gas for 3.76 and then came to work this evening and it had risen to 3,98 a gal. I don't know who controls who but they sure are screwing up my trip planning.
Amy, I was planning on coming home this weekend but now I may not get to. Since they are having trouble getting gas in Blue Ridge I am sure it would be hard to get anywhere along the way. Do you know if they are still getting it in Mccaysville? Anyway, I hope this gets over with, I want to go camping so bad I can't stand it. etncc/tearhair.gif

Asheville and Hendersonville NC are out of gas. I live in Hendersonville and it has been this way for 1 1/2 weeks. When a station gets gas, the lines form. Also they have police there as there has been some fights break out. Prices vary from $3.99 to $4.29, some stations last week $4.59+. Diesel was in short supply last week, but most stations have it now. Paper is saying it will be like this for another week or so.

we have gas around here in spots. Our Food city ran out of gas on friday two weeks ago when the rush happeneds before IKE then last friday they got gas in and by that evening it was gone again. Weird seeing all 0's in the signs. I hope it ends soon

As mentioned by willy3486 in his post, the biggest problem was people panicked and bought fuel when they normally wouldn't have. This threw a shock into the normal delivery system. It will take several weeks for everything to get back to normal again, but it will.

panick buying is what is doing it. The gas lines bring back memories of the 70's and back then it was caused by panick. I had to fill the van this morning and the last time I filled it was before Ike and it was 3.369 a gallon. This morning it was 3.789 and cost me $72.00 to fill. Hopefully it will be back down before I need to fill up again.

I know the Marathon in Morganton had gas yesterday a.m. Paul bought it on the was to work to top off for 3.86, then 9 hours later, he drove by and it was 3.99. I have a few co-workers that live in Ducktown that come to Blue Ridge I will ask them if gas is till up there. I am going to Bandits Roost next weekend in NC through Asheville, I am hoping this gas fiasco is over with.

UPDATE: 5:00 P.M.

DOWNTOWN BLUE RIDGE HAS GAS AT THE BEER BARN, REASONABLE....$3.71 A GALLON.
