We have lots of great camping close to us, too. I think it is worth working overtime and cutting corners to camp. We have cut way back on going out to eat since last year. We have some freinds we alternate weeks cooking on Friday night with. It is so much fun. We have saved lots of money by doing this. We went to eat with the same friends anyway. It is much quieter and we have someone to help us clean up! I can't wait to start camping even if I have to pop up in the yard!

I agree that camping in an RV is so much better than staying in a hotel. I am a person who loves the beach and being near the ocean to me is the best. In the past I have had many bad experiences staying in a hotel from dirty rooms, noise and just not convienent. I don't like to have to eat out every day for every meal. I also have two dogs that go camping with us, not much fun in a hotel if they even allow it. Also, you meet so many nice people when camping. I like taking part of my home with me.
My kids are grown and on their own and my dream has always been to see the USA in a RV. Now the prices of gas are putting a damper on that. I hope it changes.
I won't stop camping, but I will have to do less and take some shorter trips for now.
