Just do a check on all the stuff. As far as water I usually take a air hose and use a air gun to blow air into the sink faucet. You can wrap you hand around the airgun and faucet with the air gun blowing air. Then I cut on the faucet and then cut it off. That way it gets presssure in the lines but not too much. You can make a air adapter to the line and have the air pressure no more than 30 pounds. I then let it set a few days at least. I then after a few days turn the faucet on and see if the air escapes. If it does then no leaks. I usually put no more than 30 pounds of pressure on the lines before I put up a camper in the fall. That way in the spring I can tell if it still has no leaks. I do this check when I run lines. Don't have it connected to the water lines of your house as to not introduce air in your home water lines. As far as gas line just do a check on the hose lines and the fittings. If it has dry rot replace the rubber lines to the tank, usually about 20 bucks or less. Turn on the gas lines and do a smell test.Have some leak test stuff that is mix of dish detergent and water mix. Just brush some of that on the fittings. If you have a leak at the gas pipe it will make a bubble. Electrical just do a visual inspection. Make sure the external wire doesn't have any cuts or cracks. Check the fuse box to make sure the screws are tight holding them in. A screw that holds down the wire in the fuse box can get loose due to the current going through. I had to replace a breaker last year to my shop because the wire got loose and burned up the breaker. Old campers are like old homes, just go through it and replace what may be bad. You should have no problems. As far as price goes I have seen them from free, thanks fisherpal, to thousands of dollars. As a general rule I expect to see zero to a couple hundred of bucks for a basket case. Then one in restorable condition but not a major rebuild 500-1000 bucks. This would be one you could spend a few weekends redoing and going camping in it. Then one in good, restored, original shape that needs nothing or a few little things usually goes for 2-4 grand. Since yours is original condition and in great shape I would say 3 grand is a good buy. Plus it looks like a clean one on the inside, its had a recent paint job with auto paint, and has been garaged which can add value. And this time of the year is not a good time to buy one. Also one thing to remember is if parts are missing or need to be replaced that takes away value. I found a scotty highlander for sale for 400 bucks that the shell was perfect. It did not need any rebuild of the shell,no leaks. But they had gutted it and used it for a storage trailer. So to replace the stove, sink, fusebox, etc would have added about 300-400 bucks. I didn't go to see it before it was sold, it was a hour past Nashville . Another thing to remember is they usually go higher now than in the fall. The thing is if you redo one you usually wind up with 2-4 grand in them anyway. My Aristocrat I probably have just a little less in it than you have in that one in it and the scotty I don't have a final total. I go the route of redoing them because I enjoy it and I can pay as I redo one. I usually buy about 50 bucks of supplies to redo one each payday and by the time payday rolls around again I am out of supplies so I get more then. But remember this , a older camper is not like a newer one. A newer one depreciates but these older ones go up in value. If you deciede to sell yours later on you should have no trouble in reselling it if you keep it up. Plus you may even make a little profit. The Aristocrat I have probably wound up a hay wagon by the po.. But I did research and apperently its the only model of its type known to exist. It must have been a prototype made before the Aristocrat factory closed. So all in all I think you got a good one at a good price .

wow thanks - i found out that the LP lines have been replaces.. so i guess thats the big thing. im really glad you think that 3 is ok for that one, cause we already got it. we were afraid someone else would get it.

i was looking at your little scotty, is yours and our new one the same ?? we really like the color of yours outside. we getting the brown painted over but dont know what color yet.

I think the two are are the same model. They made two of these models. One is the 13 ft which is like mine and the 15 ft, they measured from the tounge to the back of the trailer. I believe mine is a 72 also but its older than yours I think. The door window in yours is smaller. The one in mine is the bigger one that was discontinued due to safety. They stopped those to prevent people from falling through the glass in case you traveled in the camper as it was being pulled. I think yours may have been more for up north, Those vents on the driver side are they for heat? If you had a heater built in it may have been a camper made for the north. As far as the inside mine had the woodgrain paneling like yours. They went to woodgrain in 71. I was going with birch paneling or painting it. The wife wanted paint so thats the direction we took. As far as painting goes there is a article somewhere on the yahoo scotty site on how to paint the inside of the scotty . Its easier than it sounds. You put the turquoise/blue paint down first. You can do a search at that site for pictures of the color. Then you have two other colors ,white and black. What you do is to dip a paint brush or toothbrush in one of the colors. I don't remember if its white or black first. The article says which one it is. Then you take the brush and run your finger over it so it "splatters" the paint on the wall. Then you let that dry and "splatter the next color. As far as tabletops I used the classic line of formica. A 3x8 sheet was enough to do mine plus its about 40 bucks cheaper over the 4x8 sheet. I got the blue aqua color in the scotty and green in the Aristocrat. But be prepaired to wait for it. Mine was backordered a month before Lowes got it. Joint the two scotty groups out there. There is a world of info on the scottys there. I learned a lot. I also joined the national scotty group to get the plaque for my scotty. Both of those links are on the Tennessee site.

yea were going to wait and see the condition of the interior.. were painting over the outside brown -- were getting it shipped supposed to be here friday..

willy3486- 02-12-2008
How soon are you painting the outside? I matched up the outside paint with a torqoise painted piece of aluminum that was underneath the white Aluminum. I could bring a piece of wood painted with that torqoise on it so you could match it to a camping trip this year.

i contacted the seller, and he called the first owner, and he has the original awning, with poles, he said it had only been used a few times.. he wanted $150 for everything. we told him we wanted it. just since it is the original.. its blue and white stripped. were having the camper brought to us, by a shipper. it will be here Friday. were going to go from there.

so were thinking of painted in someway of matching the awning. and would like red in it. she is doing a lodge theme in the inside, with bears, and red/black curtain's,

i forgot who you said or what to do, to get the info on putting a air conditioner, that slides in and out in it ??

willandgilscamper- 02-13-2008
yea that vent it for the Heater -- our old 63 scotty had a heater in the floor as you walk in the door, this one has it in the cabinet/wall to the right as you walk in . gives it moor floor room.

willy3486- 02-13-2008
I bet the heater is to the left instead of right. Those models have a cabinet to the left and the seat/bed combo to the right. As far as the original awning goes thats a good deal. Those original seldom bought/saved items go for a lot. A godd set of hubcaps go for 100 bucks ,bumpers, dishes etc. The was a scotty mug on ebay a few days ago at around 25 bucks for it and shipping. As far as the ac goes and fixed on sliders it was me that set one up. Check out my Aristocrat pictures in the links section on the site that has your pictures. I think someone also did that on the nationalserroscotty.org site also.

willy3486- 02-13-2008
When you get the awning do you care to describe or post a picture of them? I want to make a repo of one but I need to know how it is made. Thanks in advance

willandgilscamper- 02-13-2008
oh lol yea i meant left. biggrin.gif -- yea i was watching some hubcaps, like are on it, and the went for $89 on eBay. some valve stem covers are $4.99 have you seen those ?

sure i will post a picture and let you know all about it. we are going to look for the one that we got with our 63 scotty. it was red and white. if we didnt give it to the people that bought the camper.
