I have read some of the other posts and noticed that some of the users said to use roof supports on their pop-ups. I have a '98 Jayco Eagle that we just recently purchased and was wondering where you got the support rods at? Is this a safety issue with the crank up type campers? Sorry if I sound a little stupid about all this but it is the first pop-up we have ever had and have not got used to it yet. Thanks.

i would say the roof supports are a must have, who wants the roof to come down on them at night. Check with Rick(Cathey's rv) or your local dealer to see if you can order them for your camper, better to be safe.

Welcome Fisherpal2k,
We had a new 99 Jayco popup' It came without any type of
safety support, The dealer sad,it didn't need a support.! (ok!)
All it take's is one oop's..
We had a 1X1 steel pipe from (Lowes), we could place it, next to
the roof support, for safety. In a rain storm I felt better..

Thanks for the info. I don't know of a local dealer around where I live. The closest one I can find is in Knoxville. There aren't any props or anything with the camper and after reading some of the other input I was just curious. Thanks for the replies.

I am gonna move this to ask a dealer so Rick can see this aslo and give you a dealers response

Always use your supports... The Dealership that you talked to will not be sleeping under this roof if it does fall. It only takes one time. You can do like Campdoc suggested and pick up a type of pipe or we use 2x4 cut for service work on the Jaycos when we do repair work. The make a metal 1 1/4" x same slip to go over them and can be purchased from the Jayco dealer.

Hope this helps

I have a '98 starcraft constellation with no supports. Do I need them? Does the door not act as a support? Just wondering...... Thanks

Always use the extra supports. Real simple to slip over the lift system. Or find a 2x4 and cut it the height of the opening and set it net to your support and tie it on just make sure to remove it before you start to let it down.

This is just a extra added safety feature.....

I wouldn't sleep in a popup without the supports

sorry this posted two times

When we had our popup,'98 Jayco Eagle. I went to Lowes bought some 1" X 2" 's. cut them to size I put them on all 4 corners beside the lift post. The velcro strip canvas used to cover the post was large enough to wrap around the post and the 1x2's. Could not tell they were there.
Like some of the other posts, I would not want to sleep in a popup without the supports. It is better to be safe than sorry.
