mad.gif Well, I went into my camper last week to find that I have had a water leak in my bathroom over the winter season. The floor is so soft, I might fall through on my next visit. Has anyone ever replaced a floor in their bathroom? Should I try it (I am a pretty good jakeleg) or as the man at the fix it place said, That'll cost about $400.00 to $500.00 to have replaced. Help, I need Help. If u have replaced ur floor, contact me on how much headache I am looking at. Thanks..... etncc/i love camping.png

Been there, done that got the battle wounds to prove it. Look at the links to my camper pictures. Don't let them scare you that camper had been let to rot down for years. The main thing is do it right the first thing. Do you have pictures of that area and also of the outside, especially the corners? Also is the bathroom in the corner? I redid my entire camper. The way they made them for the most part was inside out. They laid the floor, cabinets, walls then the outside covering. What caused the leak? A fixture or a leaky roof? You should know if it was the ceiling because usually the ceiling and corners show it first. Send me an email if you have questions not here or if you want ot send pictures direct. You can also look through the 2 camper restoring links for info and help .

Hey Willy. The leak came from the outside shower in the rear of the camper. The weak floor is in the middle of the bathroom in the rear of the camper, 2 feet from the back wall middle.
I think I have made my mind up to take it to an expert. I'm good but I dont think I want the challenge just quite yet, being recently divorced. My house needs all my attention. lol (she even took the coffee pot)

Sorry about the delay in posting I didn't catch yur reply till now. I am no expert on these things but I learned this from years of fixing stuff. Replacing the floor like yours sounds isn't that bad. But if you do feel more comfortable with having someone do it by all means go that route. But make sure they fix it right. I am not familiar with a outside shower and don't think I have seen one that I remember. Make sure though if water is coming from the outside that they fix the way it is coming in. Unless the hoses go through a window or something then you just have to be careful of drips and such. Much of the repairs I had to do was from people "patching" the problem and not really fixing it. I am personally not fond of fixing a leak by just caulking it. When I redid mine after I got the wood fixed I took the trim off. I then replaced the putty between the aluminum shell and aluminum trim. Then I also added a extra amount of protection by putting some paintable silicone white caulk around the windows and such. I smoothed it out so that water would run down the aluminum skin and over the windows. If you have aluminum sides you have to clean the aluminum of the faded paint to get a good seal. If the floor problem is just in the middle and not around the shell consider yourself extremely lucky. So good luck.
