I was thinking you posted you went to Edgar Evans SP last fall. I think thats the name of the park out by the dam. I have a question about it. Does it have any campsites that are not on the wooden platforms that a tent could be put down. I almost have the Scotty done and want to take it out for its maiden voyage in March or April. It will have a awning room that has a extra tent attached so I need to be able to anchor tent stakes and awning poles. Is there another one close to Smithville within 30 minutes you know of. I went to Rock Island SP last year so I want to go to a different place. I am not set on Edgar Evans but I would like it less than an hour. Any good ones in Lebanon? I also would like something other than say Defeated Creek which you have to reserve a long time in advance. Any suggestions?

Willy,

We like Cedars of Lebanon State Park .
Take I-40 to exit 238 , go south on US 231 about 6 miles, park is on the left.
There are 3 campground loops in the park, 2 on the left and 1 on the right. We prefer to loop on the right.

Exit 238 is where the Pilot truck stop and the Lebanon Outlet shopping center is located.

Enjoy your trip wherever you go. Congrats on getting the Scotty remodeled.

I had forgot about there I will go there this year. It looks like it is about an hour or less from me. I would not have to get on the interstate to get there. It is just down the road from me. It would probably only take me about 15 minutes more over Edgar evans due to the curves there at
Edgar Evans.

We did go to Edgar Evins and loved it. All of the sites have the wooden platforms. Some have very nice lake views. We will go back.

Cedars of Lebanon is only about 40 minutes from Smithville down Highway 70 then left on 231. There is a lot to do there. They have horseback riding, a pool and you are close enough to go to the flea market on Hwy 231. Another good place would be Ragland Bottom. It is on Center Hill Lake. At the intersection of Hwys 56 and 70 in Smithville take a right and travel about 10 miles. You will go around Slligo. Ragland Bottom is on the left. It is about 10 minutes out of Smithville. We were planning to go camping below Center Hill Dam, also. They have a nice campground. It is not as far as Edgar Evins. Hope this helps. If I think of more, I will let you know.

At Ragland Bottom there is a store with a campground behind it. Don't go there. Go down to the lake between Ragland Bottom Restaurant and Hillcrest Restaurant. You will have a nice view of the lake.

I wouldn't mind going to Edgar Evans but I have to have some dirt to anchor the awning posts. Plus the way we are going to set it up we need a area to set up a tent for our girl next to the awning. We are going to make a awning that has walls you can put on for another room. On one side the tent will be connected. If we go early enough this year and the nights are cold we may just go to Edgar Evans. It was in the 20s last week and I got it to about 65 inside with a small heater. I had it up to about 70 today inside. If you or others are interested we may try to have a camping run to there or Cedars of Lebanon sometime.

There were several tents set up on the wooden platforms. I don't know how they staked them down, but I will ask Marv and get back to you. The idea of a tent attached to the camper sounds fantastic. We went the 10th of November. It got down into the 30's. We had a small ceramic heater in our popup. The first night we didn't use any heat, but the second night we did. It worked great. We played cards inside the popup after dark in just our long sleeve t-shirts and jogging pants.

We would love to go back with a group this spring. I have a trip planned to Florida in March and one to New York in May. Besides that we are free. I can't wait to camp again!
