Talk to Rick at Catheys Campers. I just got mine back yesterday. Its wonderful. They put a sway controller on my truck and trailer. Its Great. I am very pleased, with the part and the service.

ok, thanks i will post this in ask a dealer

eBay. I ordered my weight distributing hitch and sway control from eBay. Cheapest place by far that I found. I saved over $100 on the whole set-up compared to the next cheapest I could find. About 1/3 the cost of what the RV dealers wanted for the same set-up.

oh, yea... we looked on there but didnt know really excactley what package to get. thanks ! <>

I'm actually surprised you have a sway problem towing a 13' trailer with a 3/4 ton truck? I'm certainly not trying to talk you out of getting one, but are you sure you need one?

jasoncarder- 09-25-2006
I forgot to ask how you are enjoying your Shadow Cruiser. We looked long and hard at those before settling on our new trailer.

hey, well i was to when we bought it.. but it does sway a lot. i think it is where is is so short and light. maybe. we do love the shadow cruiser. the only thing we can find wrong with it is the bathroom, just a tad bit too small but we'll live. thanks

Just out of curiousity, where are the tanks located on the 139FK? And do you tow with the tanks full or empty? Just wondering if we could track down the reason that you're having sway issues and could save you the money!

willandgilscamper- 09-25-2006
the tanks are located in the front right behind the tounge. we tow with them empty. thanks for the help

jasoncarder- 09-25-2006
That being the case, it actually may help control your sway if you kept the tanks full while towing (with your combination of tow and trailer, the extra weight shouldn't be a problem). At the risk of sounding pretentious, the rule of thumb is to keep approximately 15% of the trailer's weight on the tongue. That weight distribution usually keeps sway to a minimum.

willandgilscamper- 09-25-2006
oooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh thanks we'll try that ! thanks

willandgilscamper- 09-25-2006
do i fill them up all the way or just a little ?? thanks

jasoncarder- 09-26-2006
It really depends on a lot of factors: the weight distribution of your trailer, the sizes of the tanks, where you've loaded your other gear, etc. I would probably try filling the freshwater tank full (leaving the gray/black tanks empty). One other important thing to remember is to load any gear that you keep in the trailer in the front of the trailer. Too much weight in the rear is likely to cause sway.

If you really want to get technical (or dorky, whichever you prefer biggrin.gif ), you could take your truck and trailer to a weigh station and weigh each axle to determine the exact weight distribution. I haven't yet done that with mine, but I plan on it.

Did I mention that I like the Shadow Cruisers? Hopefully we'll meet up in the near future and you can give me a tour of your rig!

willandgilscamper- 09-26-2006
thanks.. yea i dont know about the weigh station but that is a good idea.. well if you wanted me to give you a tour, it might take about an hour and a half because the camper is sooooo big !! lol. j.k biggrin.gif do you camp in the gatlinburg area ever ? thats is really the only place we go beside Warriors or Eastmean camprground wise.
