My brother-in-law is thinking about buying an old VW camper and we know it has been gutted so we were wondering if he bought it would he be able to fix it up without having a small fortune tied up in it.

Check ebay , I saw a entire cabinet with all the stove stuff there. I have been looking for a stovetop for my scotty and ran across it. What I have found out is if you are willing to wait you can get stuff at a good price. Its when you have to have it now you pay more. Check out the groups on Yahoo and MSN to see if you can find one for vw campers. What really helps out is to have a junker for parts. I didn't have a junker at first on my 66 but I had a lot of spare parts from striping out junkers. I was given one for hauling it off when I was almost finished. I paid 50 bucks to have it moved but it saved me 300 at least. If he can find one with out the engine or a body that is trashed but has the insides ,get it. It will save you in the long run. The up side to these VW campers is they bring a lot and probably will only go up in value. The average I have seen on the VW campers is at least 10 grand.
