I don't think I would want to attempt building one from scratch. To get the parts is way too expensive for my tastes. I would just find a older,larger one and tear down to the frame. I have seen 5th wheels in the shape you could redo and make, the initial cost of the trailer was less than a new trailer frame. I looked into making a scotty from scratch with new parts but its way to expensive. I think I priced a new aluminum for about 2 grand if I remember right. I could find one that is a older fifth wheel,rebuild the entire wood structure, then get the motors to make the slideout rooms, Yeah that sounds like an idea.
