was it the size, sleeping arrangments or other factors?

HotRodYJ- 06-27-2006
Yes. It was the size, sleeping arrangements, and living space arrangement that made my final dicission. This time last year we were tent camping, but after staying in Charleston last 4th of July with no AC or fan, we had dicided to upgrade to a pop-up with AC for this year. We bought a nice little pop-up last fall and used it half a dozen times this year already. It was really nice, but we quickly ran out of room and the AC juts barely keeps up on a hoit summer day when your not parked in the shade. Add to this two boys ages 8 and 16, with all their "stuff" they end up bringing along and we ran out of room very quickly. Last week we upgraded to a 27' Travel Trailer. headed to Charleton next week again for the 4th, but I bet we will be much more comfortable this year!

For us it was the general layout and the floor space. This is the first one we have had with a slide out. We like the front kitchen too. It does make a heavier tongue weight though.

Our final decision was based on our tow vehicle. If we could have handled more weight, I would have gotten one with slides and 4 bunks. As it stands, we got the one we could tow. However, we are VERY pleased with it! : ) I dream of having one with 4 bunks.. so the kids can all bring friends...(there are 5 in our family)... and one that has an actual door.. (atleast a bi-fold door).. to our bedroom... more privacy ; ) and the kids can stay up longer playing cards, etc. without waking dh.

Number one reason - necessity. Two days before new years trip to Myrtle Beach opened pup and it was completely flooded. Everything was wet from ceiling to floor and in between. Had looked at the tt before but never able to catch the owner and check it out. Just so happens while on my way to get caulking the owner was in his front yard. A quick check out, a phone call, a trip to the bank and we had a dry new to us tt to go to the beach. The tt is right size for the two of us, when owner gave me the price and all the extras included, two batteries, elec jack, extra propane wave heater and propane light, and wd hitch I just had to hook it up and take it home. No more wet suprises. BTW our son has the pup and it hasnt been wet inside since.

I saew your webshots on your new travel trailer. Looks liek you have really made it your new home. Where did you stay at Myrtle??

xfire82- 07-13-2006
that's why the name is "Lil House" . actually full name is Maw maw's lil house becaue the youngest grandchild named it when he saw it. we stated ocean lakes with the carolina campers. seems to be one of the sked annual return trips. thanks for the good comments on the tt. the previous owner had taken out the dinette. so we removed the plywood slide out sofa bed and remodeld the dinetter area. ya gotta have a place to eat when the wx is bad. rebuilt benches, reupholstered cushion and all cornices, and made new curtains. so the dinning room is all DW design. except for the table i made. etncc/i love camping.png

back in febuary when we wnt looking for campers we like the popup since they had 2 nice big beds. and were more roomy after you pop it up. we finaly found a Rockwood popup in Danville, VA they had the floorplan we were lookin for, well we just wanted one with a toilet/shower. so we got it, and had to wait like 2 months to use it since it was cold. the first time we went in it was at Eastman Campground. it was etncc/reallyhot.gif that day and we got etncc/reallyhot.gif and wore out putting it up and everything. then after we got it up we had to put it back down like half way because the electricity cable wouldnt reach to the plug on the campsite. which i know now to always make sure all the hoses and stuff reach there plug before unhooking and getting set up. while we were camping, we got on a lot that was in direct sunlight. so it was hot almost all day inside the popup. even with the air on. etncc/reallyhot.gif when we fist went to hop into bed we noticed that the sheets were damp, i guess that is normal for a tent or popup. so after the first time we went we really didnt have a good time and didnt really like the popup style.. so we started looking for a nice little TT, but we couldnt find one right off the bat, since we were looking for one small enough that had all the bells and whistles. but we wanted to go camping , so we took our popup out again and went to River Side campground in Sevierville. again we got on a lot that was in direct sunlight and it was hot all day indie the popup, so we had to go drive around, to keep cool. that night the sheets were wet again. another thing that made us not like the popup is that we heard every little thing that went on around us outside, and when people walked by we heard them, and in the morning the sunlight beamed in and made it really bright inside and woke us up like at 7am. we might have been a little spoiled by have our park model in casby for 5 years. so last month we found the perfect little travel trailer A Shadow Cruiser Fun Finder 139fk. it is 15'' long and has all the thing we need like a nice big bed, etncc/hammock.gif bathroom air, and it is a lot less hassle. i know there are people that have popups still and i dont want this to affend anyone !! popups just arent for us... so we chose to get the Fun Finder, and were going to get it the 22nd of July. we think that it will let us enjoy camping a lot more and be more satisfied with it.. wooh !! dont worry thats all !! smile.gif
