My picsIf you are planning a trip to Cherokee N.C.
You need to try Yogi In The Smokies.

This is a great family friendly campground.

Good water sites. We take our own tubes and tube down the river.

There is a good swimming hole.We take our chairs down and hang out awhile.
Activities for the kids.
Yogi wagon ride.

Kids ever where.
Take a look at my pics on webshots.

I'm going to Cherokee on Nov. 1 but we took a ride down last weekend to check out the area and the KOA where we made reservations. We went over to Yogi's while we were there and honestly i'm glad we didnt make reservations there. The KOA just seems nicer in my opinion. Cement sites and Bigger sites were the biggest things i liked , but also when we drove into yogi's we actually turned right back around and left. It didnt appear to be too clean and the entrance into the campground leaves a lot to be desired. I'm a fan of Yogi but my opinion , I wouldnt stay. WE have stayed at the one in townsend and except for really tight sites, the place and the owners are really terrific. WE'd definitly go back to that one.
Really looking forward to going to Cherokee on Nov. 1. This past weekend we just kinda got a feel for the town and what it's all about. We saw an indian put on a presentation about the area and about the history of his people. It was really interesting and informative. Also makes you feel pretty bad for what the european settlers did to them when they got here and wanted their land. etncc/bbq.gif

My kids want to go there. Was the indoor pool open?

eandsphotography- 10-17-2007
yes, the indoor pool was open at the KOA as of last thursday when we were there. It's heated so i assume its open pretty much year round. We are gonna be there on Nov. 1 if you'd like to join us.

When we go in July it is Very Clean. The staff do a great job keeping the bathhouse and grounds clean.

As far as the Entrance goes.Yes you have to go on a public road where some Indians live and Yes there yards are junky. You see this alot on the reservations.

That has nothing to do with Yogi.

We like Yogi because it has a more woody's being in the Mt. feel.
KOA has an RV park feel.

We don't have to have the paved pads.We like the natural look when in the mountains camping on the stream.
